2013 C2E2 Pre-Convention Commissions

March 28, 2013

I will be attending the 2013 C2E2, which will be held in Chicago April 26-28 (http://www.c2e2.com/Home/). As I did last year, I’m taking a limited amount of pre-convention sketches. All drawings will be on 2-ply bristol–either in ink or pencil. Prices are as follows:

Detailed head/bust: $60

Full-figure, minimal background: $125

Two figures: $250

If you have a special request, we can negotiate a price.

To get on the list, you can email me at petergkrause@yahoo.com. Advance payment is required via Paypal.

Our online comic site, Thrillbent.com, will have space at the show. I’ll also be at the Hero Initiative table on Friday from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm. You can catch me at one of those two places, or we can make arrangements so I can give you your sketch. Please only order a sketch if you are planning on attending C2E2.

Thanks, and see you at the show!

Heroes Con 2010–Sketch prices

June 1, 2010

For the first time in years, I’ll be attending an out-of-town comic convention when I travel to Charlotte, N.C. this weekend. HeroesCon will run from Friday, June 4 to Sunday, June 6.

I will be drawing a LIMITED amount of sketches. There are many people I have not seen in years, and I like to mingle a bit. I also want to attend some of the panels. So, I will not be drawing during the whole convention.

If you’d like a drawing from me, the cost will be $60 for a single character–$80 for two characters. The drawings will be 9″ x 12″, cash only. The drawings will be either tight pencils or marker–your choice. I will take orders for as many as I can finish for the day. There will be a new list on each day of the convention, so catch me early if you’d like a drawing. The best place to find me will be at the BOOM! Studios booths (booths #513 and 514).

There is one other option to obtain a drawing, and it’s a bit cheaper as well. On Friday, June 4 from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., I will be sketching at the Hero Initiative booths (booths 400-B and 400-C). The Hero Initiative is a wonderful charity that grants aid to comic creators that have fallen on hard times. I will be drawing head shots only, but the cost will be a mere $20. All proceeds go to the Hero Initiative.

I’m looking forward to seeing everyone. Please stop by and say hello!

Sketch of the Day, 3/9/10–Scott Pilgrim

March 9, 2010

One of the most enjoyable series of graphic novels I’ve read is Bryan Lee O’Malley’s “Scott Pilgrim”. Scott is an early-twenties slacker, undergoing an unusual travail to win the heart of the lovely Ramona. There are five GNs out now, with a sixth on the way. There will also be a movie starring Michael Cera.

O’Malley draws the books in a broad, manga-influenced style. Here’s my interpretation of the hero.

Another sketch page here.  The older woman in the center and upper left is a main character for a crime graphic novel that may be forthcoming from Derek McCulloch and yours truly.

Political thought of the day…Hilary, Obama and McCain

April 28, 2008

Something a bit different while I work on a few other projects. This came to me last night, so I sketched it up.

I’m sure to get some comments on this one…so keep it clean, kiddos!

Laying out the next story

April 9, 2008

Once again, I’m working on a twelve-page crime story for an upcoming Image Pop Gun anthology. The story is written by Derek McColluch. First, there is the rough layout.

Below that, the final pencils. Inks yet to come!

Studio cleanup

March 28, 2008

Chances are, you’re a more organized person than me. After an intense period of work, my studio is a mess.

I’m about to start on my twelve-page story for the Image Pop Gun anthology, and I want all my inking tools ready. That means cleaning out those tech pens, getting some new brushes and having it all easily within reach.

While I do that, why not check out some of my blog links? Besides all the guys from the neighborhood–Paul, Tom, Charlie, Zander and Cedric–there are some new additions. Ming Doyle is a young wunderkind. She has a story coming up in a Pop Gun as well. Her site has a link to her drawing blog, where she does her take on superheroes and the like.

Jillian Tamaki is an awesome illustrator, and “Skim” is her new graphic novel, coming out soon. She has some of the drawings from the novel on her blog–again, there is a link on her site.

And gizmodo.com is worth a check several times a day. Nothing to do with drawing there–just witty commentary on our electronic landscape. It’s not always kid friendly, but funny? Absolutely!

Have a great weekend.

More character sketches…..

March 20, 2008

brenda-preliminary.jpgHere are rough preliminaries for the other two principals in the Image story I’m doing. Here are “Mitch” and “Brenda”.

This just allows me to get a handle on the characters’ appearances before I start on the story.
