Heroes Con 2010–Sketch prices

June 1, 2010

For the first time in years, I’ll be attending an out-of-town comic convention when I travel to Charlotte, N.C. this weekend. HeroesCon will run from Friday, June 4 to Sunday, June 6.

I will be drawing a LIMITED amount of sketches. There are many people I have not seen in years, and I like to mingle a bit. I also want to attend some of the panels. So, I will not be drawing during the whole convention.

If you’d like a drawing from me, the cost will be $60 for a single character–$80 for two characters. The drawings will be 9″ x 12″, cash only. The drawings will be either tight pencils or marker–your choice. I will take orders for as many as I can finish for the day. There will be a new list on each day of the convention, so catch me early if you’d like a drawing. The best place to find me will be at the BOOM! Studios booths (booths #513 and 514).

There is one other option to obtain a drawing, and it’s a bit cheaper as well. On Friday, June 4 from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., I will be sketching at the Hero Initiative booths (booths 400-B and 400-C). The Hero Initiative is a wonderful charity that grants aid to comic creators that have fallen on hard times. I will be drawing head shots only, but the cost will be a mere $20. All proceeds go to the Hero Initiative.

I’m looking forward to seeing everyone. Please stop by and say hello!

Sketch of the Day, 3/9/10–Scott Pilgrim

March 9, 2010

One of the most enjoyable series of graphic novels I’ve read is Bryan Lee O’Malley’s “Scott Pilgrim”. Scott is an early-twenties slacker, undergoing an unusual travail to win the heart of the lovely Ramona. There are five GNs out now, with a sixth on the way. There will also be a movie starring Michael Cera.

O’Malley draws the books in a broad, manga-influenced style. Here’s my interpretation of the hero.

Blog is back! Sketch of the day 3/5/10–Kid Flash

March 5, 2010

Back after a long absence.

There’s a break in my comic book schedule, so more drawings and ramblings are forthcoming.

Thanks to twitter user @ryanoneil for today’s subject. It’s Wally, in his Kid Flash outfit. Yes, he does have Bart’s hairstyle–but I think if Nick Cardy and Bob Haney were doing the Teen Titans today, this is how Wally might look.

If you haven’t checked out the original Teen Titans–before Marv and George did their marvelous work with the characters–it’s well worth the effort. Cardy’s inks are luscious, and Haney’s stories are outrageous! All part of the fun…
